The LEED certification program assesses building design and construction in terms of energy efficiency, water usage, air quality, and choice of building materials as well as environmental factors such as access to public transportation and responsible land use. The LEED program is sponsored by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) to set a benchmark for the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of high-performance green buildings and homes.

 

By promoting a whole-building approach to sustainability, LEED recognizes achievements in location and planning, sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, waste reduction, indoor environmental quality, innovative strategies, and attention to priority regional issues. The LEED certification program is the leading international program for sustainable building design and construction. Attaining LEED certification demonstrates environmentally responsible building practices. By being LEED Gold Certified, Citizen Tower will create a healthier, more sustainable future.
